NÍKOS VLACHOS-Playwright
Níkos Vlachos was born in Chicago, growing up in Beverly Hills on Chicago's South Side. He attended Morgan Park High School where he was introduced to live theater by drama professor, Charles W. Beirne, also teaching drama to students at St. Xavier's College. Beirne cast Níkos in several plays at both schools, which fueled his desire to study theater arts as an undergraduate at the University of Idaho. Níkos majored initially in theater there, but ultimately received his B.S. in Premedical studies, becoming a physician and practicing in downstate Illinois. Primarily writing articles related to medicine for most of his professional career, like Chekhov, he returned to his passion for the theater in August 2002 with THE BED, his first play. THE BED was work-shopped at Milliken University and then produced in 2006 at the Camino Real Playhouse in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Níkos is proud to finally bring THE BED home to his native Chicago.
